Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: The buzz around Rockstar Games GTA 6 keeps growing after the studio released its second trailer, and even with the game’s pushback to next year, player anticipation remains sky-high. What’s fueling concern, however, is the possible cost of the standard edition, with some fans fearing it could reach as much as $100.
Those worries have only intensified following recent remarks by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick in a conversation with Variety.
When questioned about the pricing approach for GTA 6, Zelnick avoided locking in specifics, noting, “Our goal is always to provide more value than the amount we charge.” Given the franchise’s history of delivering expansive worlds with endless activities, a higher launch price could be rationalized under this mindset.
He highlighted that most major releases debut at premium rates, often supported by special editions, before receiving discounts later to boost sales. This suggests the possibility of a regular base price alongside costlier versions packed with extras—likely including incentives for the game’s online mode, much like the strategy used with GTA V.

For gamers worried about price hikes, there’s a glimmer of hope. Publishers have learned that steep launch prices don’t always work in their favor. For instance, Microsoft originally announced The Outer Worlds 2 at $80 but reduced it to $70 within weeks after backlash. This proves that not all titles can sustain a higher-than-standard rate like Mario Kart World.
In the end, players will need to wait for the official pricing, which, according to Zelnick, “will be revealed by Rockstar at the right time.” The company appears to be keeping its options open while navigating industry shifts, inflation pressures, and changing US tariff policies.
