Islamabad, 24 March 2025: Rohit Sharma endured a disappointing night as his team faced Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2025 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The right-handed batter failed to score, registering his 18th duck in IPL history, a record he now shares with Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik.
The 37-year-old hard-hitter faced three dot balls before edging a catch to Shivam Dube off Khaleel Ahmed’s bowling in the opening over.
With this dismissal, the Indian captain joined Maxwell and Karthik at the top of the unwanted list for most ducks in IPL history.

CSK made a strong start to their IPL campaign, securing a four-wicket victory while chasing 156.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front with a blistering 53 off 26 balls, while Rachin Ravindra played a steady knock, remaining unbeaten on 65.
Earlier, CSK’s bowlers dominated Mumbai’s batting lineup. Left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad delivered a career-best performance, taking 4/18, while pacer Khaleel Ahmed provided early breakthroughs, finishing with 3/29.
Ravichandran Ashwin, making a return to CSK, also contributed with a crucial wicket in his first over.
Despite middle-order contributions from Tilak Varma (41) and Suryakumar Yadav (32), Mumbai could only manage 155/9.
In response, CSK’s chase remained steady, with Ravindra sealing the victory with a six in the final overs. MS Dhoni remained unbeaten as CSK started their season with a convincing win.
