Islamabad, July 23, 2025: After successfully launching Metro Bus, Orange Line Metro Train, Speedo feeder buses, and Electro Green buses, Lahore is now planning to bring electric trams to the city public transport system , said a representative of the Orange Line project.
Electric trams have been imported from China to support clean and eco-friendly travel across Lahore. The official shared that each tram will be able to cover 25 to 27 kilometers after charging for just 10 minutes.
These trams will have three compartments and will carry up to 250 people at a time. “The first trams are being assembled at the Ali Town Depot,” the spokesperson said.

This project will begin with a test run. The trial route will go from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harbanspura.
“At first, the tram service will be free of cost,” said the spokesperson. “If the trial is successful, ticket prices will be introduced for regular use.”
