How Taxes Impact Prize Money
As per official policy, tax rates differ based on the winner’s tax status—filers pay significantly less than non-filers. This framework remains consistent in the 1,500 Prize Bond Draw held this month.
For Tax Filers:
- First Prize Winner: A filer is subject to a 15% tax, reducing the Rs3 million reward by Rs450,000. The net payout amounts to Rs2,550,000.
- Second Prize Winners: Each will receive Rs850,000 after a deduction of Rs150,000 from the Rs1 million prize.
- Third Prize Winners: Winners will pay Rs2,775 in tax, collecting Rs15,725 out of the Rs18,500 prize.
For Non-Filers:
- First Prize Winner: A hefty 35% tax applies, cutting Rs1,050,000 from the Rs3 million prize, leaving Rs1,950,000.
- Second Prize Winners: Rs350,000 is deducted, leaving Rs650,000 in hand.
- Third Prize Winners: Will receive Rs12,950 after a deduction of Rs5,550.
