Islamabad 12 August: A special audit of Islamabad’s veterinary laboratories has revealed serious discrepancies in the supply of vaccines meant to protect millions of sheep and goats from deadly diseases.
According to the Auditor General’s report, Rs20 million was paid to suppliers despite incomplete deliveries. A vaccine supplier allegedly used fake delivery challans to record 2.4 million doses in official logs, enabling payments without actual supply.
The company had been contracted to deliver 17 million doses of livestock vaccine worth Rs133.4 million but provided only 14 million doses, valued at Rs114.6 million.

The audit found that the shortfall affected consignments sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Quetta, Lahore, and Muzaffarabad.
The Auditor General has called for a formal inquiry into the payments and recommended action against those responsible for falsifying records and approving unverified transactions.
