KARACHI, 27 May 2025: : Zilhajj Moon has not been sighted in Pakistan on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, said the statement issued by the Zonal Hilal Committee meeting held at Karachi Meteorological Department.
“No evidence has been received from all over Sindh including Karachi,” Allama Hafiz Salafi said, adding that they have submitted their report to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
“The final decision on the sighting of the moon will be taken by Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad from Islamabad,” he added.
Ruet-e-Hilal Committee officials are gathered in Islamabad today as well to determine the beginning of the Islamic month of Zilhajj 1446 AH, a key step in finalising the dates for Hajj and Eid-ul-Adha.
The meeting is being led by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, who currently heads the Central Ruet-e-Hilal.
At the same time, local zonal committees are holding parallel sessions at their respective regional offices to collect moon sighting testimonies from various parts of the country.
The sighting of the crescent moon will signal the start of Zilhajj, the final month in the Islamic calendar.

This sacred period is particularly significant for Muslims globally, as it marks the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, known as Hajj one of the five pillars of Islam.
Sources indicate that once the Ruet-e-Hilal confirms the moon sighting, preparations for Eid-ul-Adha will follow. If the moon is observed this evening, Eid is expected to fall on June 7 this year.
Eid-ul-Adha, often referred to as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is observed on the 10th day of Zilhajj.
The occasion commemorates the unwavering devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his son in obedience to divine command.
During the three-day festival, Muslims around the world perform the ritual slaughter of livestock, including goats, cows, or sheep.

For millions, the outcome of today’s gathering not only sets the religious calendar but also shapes spiritual plans, travel schedules, and community celebrations across the country.
