Islamabad, Feb 14: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated against the US Dollar (USD) today, closing in green after opening at 279 in the interbank market. Throughout the trading session, the exchange rate fluctuated between 279 and 281/$, ultimately settling at 279.20, marking a gain of five paisas or 0.02 percent against the greenback. The open market saw similar stability, with rates remaining in the 279-282 range.

While the rupee showed strength against the USD, it faced losses against most other major currencies during the session. Notably, the PKR gained one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED) and two paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR). However, it suffered a notable decline of Rs. 1.44 against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) and Rs. 1.17 against the Euro (EUR). The rupee also lost Rs. 1.66 against the British Pound (GBP) but managed to gain Rs. 1.38 against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the PKR has depreciated by 0.31 percent, reflecting ongoing challenges in the currency market. Despite these fluctuations, today’s performance signals a brief recovery for the rupee against the US Dollar, demonstrating resilience in an otherwise volatile environment.
