Islamabad, May 22, 2025: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) ended weaker against the US Dollar (USD), British Pound, and the majority of other leading currencies on Wednesday.
On a day-to-day (DoD) basis, the interbank exchange rate hovered between 282–283 per dollar for most of the session before settling at the 281 mark. In the open market, exchange rates across several counters held steady at the 283 level today.
The rupee remained under downward pressure throughout the day and eventually finished in the red against the dollar. Simultaneously, it registered declines against most of the prominent foreign currencies during today’s trading.
The PKR slipped by 0.03 percent DoD after shedding nine paisas, closing at 282.06 against the US Dollar today.

On a fiscal year-to-date (FYTD) basis, the PKR has weakened by 1.34 percent versus the USD.
Other Currencies
The PKR traded lower against a majority of other key foreign currencies in today’s interbank market.
- It dropped by two paisas against both the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
- In addition, it declined by 58 paisas when compared to the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- The local unit also slipped by 26 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) in today’s session.
It managed a marginal gain of one paisa against the Euro (EUR) but plunged 75 paisas against the British Pound (GBP).
