Islamabad, Aug 26: After beginning trade at 278 in the interbank market today, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased against the US dollar for the second day in a row. It closed the green against the greenback after remaining steady all day. During today’s session, it recorded losses compared to the majority of the other major currencies.

The interbank rate closed at 278/$, where it had spent the majority of the day. Today’s open market rates were rigidly set at the 278 level across a number of currency exchanges. After gaining eight paisas versus the US dollar today, the PKR strengthened by 0.03 percent to settle at 278.41.To now in the current fiscal year, the rupee has gained 0.06 percent.

Since January 2023, the rupee has decreased overall by over Rs. 51.52. It is lost Rs. 95.52 against the US dollar since April 2022. Based on the changes in currency rates observed throughout the day, the PKR appreciated by more than eight paisas today. Against the majority of the other major currencies in the interbank market today, the PKR was in the red. In comparison to the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and the UAE Dirham (AED), it gained two paisas.

Conversely, in today’s interbank currency market, it lost Rs. 1.13 paisas against the Canadian dollar (CAD), Rs. 1.30 against the Australian dollar (AUD), Rs. 1.56 against the euro (EUR), and Rs. 2 against the British pound (GBP).
