Islamabad, Dec 30: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) faced a decline for the second consecutive day, closing lower against the US Dollar (USD) after starting the trading session at 279 in the interbank market. Although the rupee remained stable for most of the day, it ended the session in the red, closing at 278.46 against the USD, losing one paisa in the process.
During today’s trading, the interbank rate fluctuated between 278 and 279 per dollar, ultimately closing at the lower end of that range. In the open market, exchange rates for the rupee hovered between 278 and 281 against the greenback.
The PKR also posted losses against all other major currencies during today’s session. It remained unchanged against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and UAE Dirham (AED) but depreciated by two paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Against the Euro (EUR), the rupee lost six paisas, and it lost 98 paisas against the British Pound (GBP). The PKR also weakened by 21 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has depreciated by 0.05 percent.
