Islamabad, Sep 9: A two-day winning run against the US dollar (USD), the Pakistani rupee (PKR) opened trading at 278 in the interbank market today.
It closed in red versus the US dollar, remaining bearish throughout the day. During today’s session, it recorded gains against the majority of the other major currencies.
The interbank rate closed at 278/$, where it had spent the majority of the day. Today’s open market rates were firmly between 278 and 279 at various currency counters.
The PKR lost 13 paisas versus the US dollar today, depreciating by 0.05 percent to close at 278.7.
Thus far this fiscal year, the rupee has lost 0.10 percent of its value.
Against the majority of the other major currencies in the interbank market today, the PKR was up.
It appreciated by Rs. 1.37 versus the Euro (EUR), Rs. 1.74 versus the Australian Dollar (AUD), Rs. 1.96 versus the British Pound (GBP), and 92 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
In today’s interbank currency market, it lost three paisas versus the UAE Dirham (AED) and four paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
