Islamabad, Nov 13: Rupee Surges Against British Pound and Other Major Currencies. The Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced declines for the second consecutive day against the US Dollar (USD) today after beginning trading at 278 in the interbank market.
It remained under pressure throughout the day and closed lower against the greenback. In contrast, it appreciated against the majority of other significant currencies during today’s trading session.
The interbank rate held steady at 278/$ for most of the day before ending at the 277 mark. Rates in the open market across various currency exchanges stayed within the 279-281 range today. The PKR increased by 0.03 percent, finishing at 277.85, marking a gain of seven paisas against the US Dollar today.
On a year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated 0.18 percent. Today, the PKR performed well against most other major currencies in the interbank market. It improved by three paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and by two paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED).
Additionally, it gained 15 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD), Rs. 2.15 against the British Pound (GBP), and 95 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD). The rupee appreciated by 84 paisas against the Euro (EUR) in today’s interbank currency market.
