Islamabad, Feb 12: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) closed lower against the US Dollar (USD) today, after opening at 280 in the interbank market. The exchange rate fluctuated between 279-281/$ throughout the day before settling at 279.25, marking a depreciation of 0.03 percent, a loss of nine paisas from the previous day.
In the open market, rates hovered between 279-282 for the day. The rupee’s downtrend continued, not only against the US Dollar but also against other major currencies. On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has depreciated by 0.33 percent.

The PKR also saw losses against several key currencies today. It fell by two paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR). Against the Canadian Dollar (CAD), it lost 65 paisas, and against the Euro (EUR), it dropped Rs. 2.04. The British Pound (GBP) saw a significant loss of Rs. 3.40, while the rupee depreciated by 33 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
