Islamabad, July 21, 2025: The government has announced the addition of 3,100 new surveillance cameras in Islamabad to further expand the Safe City project and improve security.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Safe City Headquarters, where he launched the Online Women Police Station and the “One Info App.” He appreciated the work of Islamabad IG Ali Nasir Rizvi and observed the live monitoring system displayed on the Safe City digital screen.
Naqvi said the new app will allow people to report emergencies easily. He instructed officials to ensure that all online services work smoothly, especially for helping women and other at-risk groups. He added that both the app and the online police station show how modern technology is being used for public safety.
While leading a meeting at the headquarters, the minister said that the Safe City system has helped prevent crimes and improve police response. He said Islamabad should become a model city for security by using artificial intelligence and the latest technology.

Naqvi further ordered that Islamabad’s Safe City system be connected with similar setups in other provinces. This step, he said, will make data sharing easier and strengthen national security.
During the briefing, the IG told the minister that 3,100 cameras are already active in the capital. With the new plan, the number will double. He shared that the Safe City system has helped police solve major cases, like the Sardar Fahim murder case, and that crime has gone down in recent months due to better monitoring.
