Islamabad, 13 May, 2025: On a chilly, rainy morning in Tokyo, a group of 31 young businessmen gather in a college gymnasium, preparing for their weekend passion: cheerleading.
Despite the cold and damp, they are full of energy, dressed in their dark suits and ties, and ready to take part in their routine.
The sound of upbeat pop music fills the gym as their chants echo: “Yes, you can! You can definitely do it! Go, Japan! Go, Japan!”
The group, called “Cheer Re-Man’s,” was formed in 2023 and is made up of former members of the cheerleading squad at Tokyo’s prestigious Waseda University.
Their mission is simple—spread joy and positivity through acrobatic performances.

The young men volunteer their weekends, performing at shopping malls and other venues, bringing smiles to spectators with their eye-catching stunts.
The members, who hold full-time jobs in industries such as real estate and marketing, balance their professional lives with their passion for cheerleading.
For their practices, they borrow space from a local female cheerleading team, offering biscuits in exchange.
On weekdays, they are the typical Japanese salarymen, navigating crowded trains and long office hours. However, on weekends, they channel their energy into their routines, hoping to inspire others.
One of the members, Soichiro Kakimoto, works in software development. He describes the balance between his work and cheerleading as a key to his mental well-being.

“On weekdays, I use my brain, and on weekends, I use my body,” said Kakimoto. “Even when one isn’t well, the other helps, and that contributes to my overall health.”
Their dynamic performances, which include gravity-defying stunts and human towers, have caught attention beyond Japan.
They’ve even secured an online commercial spot for Uniqlo and competed on “Britain’s Got Talent,” finishing third in their semi-final.
For spectators like 61-year-old Yasuko Yamaki, the group’s efforts are deeply inspiring.
After seeing a performance at a local mall, she shared how watching these dedicated salarymen brought tears to her eyes. “It’s so motivational to see them never give up, especially during tough times,” she said.
