Yesterday marked the opening of Samsung’s most recent Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, where the Korean tech giant unveiled a plethora of new products, including the much awaited foldable, its first smart ring, new wireless earphones, and new smartwatches.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are the two latest foldable devices. In this piece, we will just discuss the Z Fold 6. It receives the same Galaxy AI processing as the S24 series of smartphones.
Design and Display
The design is the primary distinction between the Z Fold 5 and Z Fold 6. Similar to its Chinese competitors like the Honor Magic V2 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, the new model has a lighter and smaller body.
The Fold 6’s cover display has a slightly different form (22.1:9 compared to 23.1:9 on the Fold5), but it’s still not exactly a typical phone screen. Because of this, they are able to increase its size (6.3 inches diagonally) without making the phone seem much broader. The drawback? a little thicker bezel surrounding the display.
In order to prevent overheating, Samsung also redesigned the phone’s hinge and installed a much bigger cooling system within. Additionally, the Fold 6 now formally possesses the IP48 dust protection rating—a first for folding phones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 unfolds to show a large 7.6-inch internal display that Samsung refers to as “Infinity Flex.” At 20.9:18, the aspect ratio is suitable for watching material.
