Islamabad, Nov 23: Samsung Takes a Dig at Apple Users, Calling Them ‘iSheep’. In yet another effort at parody, Samsung has launched a new advertisement that targets Apple and its users. Similar to the well-known “Simon Says” game, the advertisement portrays iPhone users as followers of an enigmatic character dubbed “Simon,” who gives instructions to others. Although “iSheep” isn’t mentioned specifically, it’s difficult to overlook the analogy.
Take a look at the advertisement on X.
Samsung markets itself as the alternative for people who wish to stand out, whereas Apple customers are advised to just blend in, according to the campaign’s tagline, “If you try to fit in, you won’t stand out.” By portraying Samsung as the creative option, this strategy also capitalizes on Apple’s iconic “Think Different” slogan, ironically flipping the story.
The Samsung commercial has generated conflicting responses as usual. Critics have noted that it oversimplifies customer choices to reduce the dispute between Apple and Samsung to a binary of “fitting in” or “standing out.” Others have pointed out that Samsung’s criticism of Apple’s strategy is undermined by its reliance on well-known marketing clichés.
Users should keep in mind, though, that this is merely a lighthearted remark made to get some social media interaction at a competitor. We are all aware that it won’t stop any loyalists. Apple has previously been the direct target of Samsung’s advertising. The two businesses’ competition has frequently permeated their advertising campaigns, with Samsung continuously presenting itself as an alternative to Apple’s ecosystem. Regardless of whether the campaign is successful or not, it carries on the long-standing practice of tech companies using competitive marketing to strengthen their brand identities and reach devoted clientele.
