Islamabad, Jan 8: Fly A Deal’s, Saudi Arabia’s budget airline, is gearing up to launch operations in Pakistan starting from February 2025.

However, Former PIA Marketing Director, Irshad Ghani stated that the launch of Fly A Deal’s, in Pakistan will increase competition among airlines flying between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia including PIA, Air Sial, Air Blue and other Saudi carriers. This competition is expected to lower the air ticket prices in Pakistan significantly.

Key Highlights of Fly A Deal’s Launch:

  • Inaugural Flight: Fly A Deal’s first flight will take off from Jeddah on February 3, 2025, at 2:45 AM Pakistan local time, landing in Karachi.
  • Weekly Flights: Flyadeal will operate two weekly flights from Karachi to both Jeddah and Riyadh, and two weekly flights from Lahore to these destinations as well.
  • International Expansion: This launch is part of Flyadeal’s ongoing international expansion, with plans to introduce more routes in the future.

Affordable Air Travel for Pakistani Passengers:

Flyadeal’s entry into the market brings affordable air travel options, especially for those traveling between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The airline operates on a low-cost model, allowing it to offer cheaper fares by charging extra for additional services such as food, drinks, and luggage beyond a specified weight.

Impact on Competition and Ticket Prices:

The arrival of Flyadeal will increase competition among airlines operating on the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia route, including PIA, Air Sial, Air Blue, and other Saudi carriers. According to former PIA Marketing Director, Irshad Ghani, this heightened competition could result in a 5% to 10% drop in ticket prices, with passengers saving up to 20% to 25% by not selecting additional services like meals or extra luggage.

  • Umrah Ticket Prices: Currently, Umrah ticket prices from Pakistan range between Rs. 150,000 and Rs. 170,000. Flyadeal’s entry is expected to reduce these prices by Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000, making it more affordable for pilgrims.
  • Open Skies Agreement: The 2012 Open Skies Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enables airlines to operate flights between any city in both countries, making Flyadeal’s launch possible.

Flyadeal’s low-cost model and expansion plans bring a new dimension to the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia air travel market. For Pakistani travelers, this is an opportunity to enjoy cheaper fares, while for the aviation industry, it signifies increased competition.
