Islamabad, June 28, 2025: In a major facilitation move, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has allowed GCC citizens and residents to perform Umrah year-round, entering through all land, air, and sea ports.

The ministry confirmed that permits for Umrah can be obtained easily through the official Nusuk app, ensuring smooth and regulated access to the holy sites.

This decision is part of Saudi Arabia’s vision to enhance the pilgrimage experience and simplify procedures for regional visitors. Importantly, this initiative isn’t limited to GCC citizens. Residents of these countries are also now eligible to perform Umrah using various visa types, including:

  • Umrah visa via nusuk.sa
  • Transit visa in partnership with Saudia Airlines and Flynas
  • Tourist visa available through ksavisa.sa

Regardless of visa type, all pilgrims must acquire prior permits for Umrah and access to Rawdah Al Sharifah via the Nusuk app.

Saudi Arabia officially resumed issuing Umrah visas to international pilgrims on June 10, while Nusuk permit issuance began June 11. The Umrah season calendar includes clear cut-off dates:

  • 1st Shawwal: Last day to issue Umrah visas
  • 15th Shawwal: Final entry date for pilgrims
  • 1st Dhul Qi’dah: Final departure date from the Kingdom

Additionally, Saudi authorities have stopped accepting applications for external Umrah agents. New contracts with Umrah companies will now be finalized and validated on the first of Shaaban of the following year.

This comprehensive update reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to making religious travel more accessible, structured, and spiritually fulfilling for all Muslims across the GCC region.
