Islamabad, July 26, 2025: A tragic Saudi Arabia road accident has taken the lives of seven Pakistani Umrah pilgrims, all belonging to the same family from Dagai Khudokhel area of Buner district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported by ARY News.
Among those who died were four minors, while five other relatives received injuries in the crash. The family had landed in the Kingdom 11 days earlier for the purpose of performing Umrah. Relatives confirmed that funeral prayers for the deceased will be offered in Saudi Arabia.
This sorrowful event comes soon after the Ministry of Religious Affairs shared that 18 Pakistani nationals — 10 males and 8 females—lost their lives during Hajj 2025, mainly due to medical problems such as cardiac issues. All were laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi, the sacred graveyard in Medina.

In contrast with 2024, when 35 Pakistanis passed away during Hajj, this year has shown a clear drop in the number of deaths, possibly because of enhanced healthcare services and stricter safety systems enforced by Saudi officials.
This latest traffic calamity stands as yet another painful reminder of the need for better protection for travelers during religious journeys. The Pakistani embassy and government are expected to work closely with Saudi counterparts to assist the injured family members and help with burial arrangements.
