Saudi Arabia’s Al-Baraa Al-Amoudi secured the nation’s inaugural Muay Thai gold medal at the 2024 Senior World Championships in Patras, Greece.
He triumphed in the under-23, 57 kg category, defeating the reigning champion, Russia’s Igor Bikruve. The tournament, organized by the International Federation of Muaythai Associations, witnessed participation from over 800 athletes representing 70 countries, marking it as one of the largest events in Muay Thai history.
Al-Amoudi received a warm reception from friends and family upon his return to Jeddah, expressing pride in his achievement and optimism for future tournaments.
The Saudi Muay Thai Federation, on its X account, extended congratulations to Al-Amoudi, noting additional successes with four other medals earned by the Saudi Muay Thai team, including gold in the Para category by Ali Al-Nasser and bronze medals by Atheer Abdulaziz, Mohsin Al-Subiani, and Abdullah Al-Dossary.
