Islamabad, May 8, 2025: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan is set to arrive in Islamabad tonight to help ease Pakistan-India tensions.

His visit comes amid growing fears of a wider conflict following a deadly exchange between the two nuclear-armed neighboring countries.

According to diplomatic sources, Prince Faisal will meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a high-level discussion aimed at promoting regional stability.

The situation in South Asia has become increasingly volatile after India launched missile strikes on several Pakistani cities, killing at least 31 people and injuring 57.

New Delhi claimed the attacks were in retaliation for a deadly blast in the disputed Kashmir region on April 22 that killed 26 tourists which Pakistan has strongly denied.

Prior to his arrival in Pakistan, the Saudi Foreign Minister held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington.

The U.S. State Department said the meeting focused on regional security, economic ties, and efforts to calm the tensions between India and Pakistan.

A spokesperson added that Secretary Rubio also praised Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting peace efforts in Syria, Sudan, Lebanon, and the Red Sea.

Calls for restraint have come from leaders around the world. U.S. President Donald Trump urged to avoid further escalation and seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

The strikes reportedly continued throughout the day, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to four Pakistani military officers.
