Islamabad, March 19 2025: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has distributed fresh currency notes worth Rs. 27 billion in various denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks across the country for public access and for Eid-ul-Fitr.
In response to circulating claims that SBP has stopped issuing fresh banknotes, the central bank has firmly denied such reports.

In an official statement released on Monday, SBP clarified that it continues its tradition of providing new currency notes to commercial banks, especially on festive occasions like Eid-ul-Fitr.
As part of this practice, the bank has already dispatched Rs. 27 billion worth of fresh notes, ensuring that people can obtain them through their respective bank branches.
Additionally, arrangements have been made to maintain a seamless supply of good-quality banknotes via ATMs so that the public can access crisp currency notes without inconvenience during the holiday season and for Eid-ul-Fitr.
This initiative helps individuals who wish to use brand-new currency notes for gifting and other festive traditions. To further streamline the distribution process.
