Islamabad, July 2, 2025: Pakistan’s digital payment landscape is entering a new security phase as biometric verification becomes mandatory for Easypaisa and JazzCash cash transactions starting July 1, 2025. This move, directed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), aims to enhance user protection and curb digital fraud.

While mobile wallet users in Pakistan continue to shift towards cashless services, concerns over financial security have prompted SBP to introduce new verification requirements. The regulation requires users to undergo biometric verification at authorized retail agents when depositing or withdrawing cash.

Contrary to circulating social media rumors, no user accounts will be blocked, and all existing funds remain safe. This biometric requirement applies only to over-the-counter cash deposits and withdrawals—online transactions remain unaffected.

Biometric-enabled agents across the country are now equipped to verify users during transactions. Any attempt to deposit or withdraw without biometric verification will no longer be processed.

This SBP directive is a crucial step in ensuring that all digital transactions are traceable, secure, and free from unauthorized access. It also strengthens public trust in platforms like Easypaisa and JazzCash, which collectively serve millions across Pakistan.
