ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Education has been notified by Federal Education Secretary Mohiuddin Wani that a policy for character education has been developed. Furthermore, 11,000 students at Islamabad schools have been given free food and spectacles to correct their vision impairments. The creation of early childhood education centers, the addition of nighttime sessions to crammed schools, and the removal of the B-form prerequisite for new admissions are among the other efforts.
Senator Bushra Anjum Butt presided over the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Education. The challenges have been made worse by the continuation of the caretaker administration, Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said in response to a question from the chairperson regarding the selections of heads of institutions within the Ministry of Education.
Secretary Wani clarified that the Prime Minister’s Office has the power to appoint heads of institutions on a permanent basis. The Federal Board and the National Book Foundation (NBF) have appointed temporary staff members for a two-month period. A number of institutions have finished the process of shortlisting candidates for their heads, and permanent appointments are anticipated to be announced in the upcoming month.
Wani emphasized at a briefing on the activities of the Ministry of Education during the past 100 days that hunger has a major negative influence on education. He mentioned that 11,000 kids in Balochistan and 18,000 kids in Gilgit-Baltistan are receiving food assistance. Those with visual impairments have been given glasses. There is a newly opened early childhood education center,An early childhood education center has opened, and in the upcoming month, 100 more are expected to be built. In fifty-one overloaded schools, evening classes have begun.
Many youngsters from other provinces who had previously been unable to enroll in school have benefited from the removal of the B-form criteria for entrance.Parents will be involved in the creation of a distinct 36-week theme as part of the character education policy. Dr. Mukhtar, the chairman of the HEC, emphasized that problems with governance and quality are currently more urgent than money.
