All government and private schools in Murree will remain closed for two days due to heavy rains from August 19 to August 20, 2025, officials announced on Monday.

According to a notification issued by the District Education Authority Murree, the decision was taken in pursuance of directives from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The closure applies to all educational institutions across the district, including government and private schools. Authorities said the precautionary step was necessary as continuous rainfall has raised concerns over landslides, road blockages, and other weather-related hazards in the hill station.

Officials further advised parents to keep children at home and avoid unnecessary travel during the rainy spell. Rescue and relief teams have also been placed on high alert to deal with any emergency situation.

Murree, a popular tourist destination, has witnessed repeated disruptions in recent years during the monsoon season due to heavy downpours, which often affect mobility and public safety. The current rains have once again highlighted the district’s vulnerability to extreme weather patterns.

The District Education Authority confirmed that schools are expected to reopen on August 21, 2025, subject to improvement in weather conditions.
