Islamabad, Nov 1: A dazzling 151 by Brandon McMullen took Scotland to a 71-run victory over USA in their ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match in Dallas.
McMullen bludgeoned 11 fours and six sixes as he scored his highest ODI,
Aided by Charlie Tear’s valuable 51 and Michael Leask’s useful 33* as Scotland clubbed 119 from the last 10 overs.
The aggressive Brad Currie claims two wickets and set USA up again while Utkarsh Srivastava scored 67,
Monak Patel 51 and Sanjay Krishnamurthi 49 difficult for USA
Another resounding victory for the Scots in as they occupy the third place of the CWCL2
Having lost the toss and been put into the field, USA’s Charlie Tear and Andrew Umeed got off to a cracking start,
reaching 26 for no further loss in their first four overs.
Umeed had pulled a huge six over long leg, but he edged Saurabh Netravalkar behind for 18.
McMullen got into his rhythm quite early with a couple of trademarks driving shots and Tear went past fifty
In the twelfth over on an outfield that was showing no signs of wear and tear,
The team but took Scotland to 100 only in the twenty third over.
McMullen was getting on top, knocking first Netravakar and then Harmeet Singh for a six, he took fifty from 63 balls.
Who took a great catch at cover off, though Jack Jarvis to dismiss Patel for 52.
Tear then shelled a simple chance off Leask given by Srivastava, but the Scots were still on top.
Another important chance went begging when Currie missed an easy caught and bowled opportunity off Srivastava
Then the tension was turned up and with 15 overs left USA was still 130 runs away for the win.
For Scotland this victory is important to strengthen them in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 to have better chances to qualify.
Scotland will aim to add more victories in their future matches
Evidence that it should be able to defeat its opponents in SC land and as the League 2 tournament commence expect Scotland to be among the teams to beat.
