Allottees of Sector I-12 on Sunday voiced strong criticism of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for its prolonged failure to develop the sector.
In a meeting, the sector’s action committee debated whether to launch an immediate protest or first seek dialogue with the CDA chairman.
They said that for decades, Sector I-12 has stood as a reminder of the CDA’s unfulfilled promises to ordinary citizens. Thousands of allottees, many from low and middle-income groups, have been waiting for years to take possession of their plots and are still forced to live in rented homes at steep costs, despite being plot owners on paper.

Despite differences over strategy, the meeting ended with a consensus to begin with dialogue. The allottees agreed to request a formal meeting with the CDA chairman between September 16 and 18, depending on his availability.
Their main demand is the immediate partial possession of plots in Sector I-12, along with a clear timeline for the completion of development work.
According to a CDA official, work in the sector is ongoing and efforts are being made to complete it at the earliest.
