Islamabad, Jan 31: The Serena Interchange project, which was launched alongside the Jinnah Avenue Interchange in November, has encountered delays, with its original completion date of January 5 now pushed back to February 4. The project, a key infrastructure development in Islamabad, consists of three underpasses, with one already open for traffic. The remaining two underpasses on Srinagar Highway are slated to open on February 4.
However, the project is facing a challenge due to the lack of an underpass on Murree Road that would directly connect the interchange to Srinagar Highway. As a result, one of the underpasses will remain underutilized, as traffic from AJK and Murree will not be able to access Srinagar Highway directly. This gap in the infrastructure raises concerns about traffic flow and the full utilization of the interchange.

To address this, Minister Naqvi recently met with officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), directing them to expedite the design and cost estimates for the Murree Road underpass. CDA is working swiftly to finalize the plans, with the intention to lay the foundation stone for this underpass during the Serena Interchange inauguration on February 4.
In addition to the underpass work, the minister emphasized the need for timely completion of landscaping and horticulture around the interchange to enhance the aesthetic appeal and ensure high-quality standards in the surrounding infrastructure.
The successful completion of the Serena Interchange, along with the Murree Road underpass, is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the area, benefiting residents and commuters in the long term.
