Islamabad, Jan 31: The moon of Shaban 1446 Hijri has officially been sighted in Pakistan, marking the commencement of the eighth month in the Islamic lunar calendar. This announcement signifies the countdown to the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on March 1, 2025.
A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened in Islamabad on Thursday, January 30, to confirm the moon sighting.
The gathering was attended by members of zonal committees and various relevant officials, all working to ensure the accurate observation of the moon.
Following the meeting, Maulana Azad shared the good news that credible testimonies had confirmed the sighting of the moon across the country. Consequently, the first day of Shaban will be observed on January 31, 2025, marking the beginning of this significant month in the Islamic calendar.
Shaban holds great spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. Among its notable observances is Shab-e-Barat, which occurs on the 15th night of Shaban. This night is considered a time for prayer, seeking forgiveness, and spiritual reflection. In Pakistan, Shab-e-Barat will fall on the night of February 13, 2025.
