Islamabad, July 15, 2025: Sharjah has rolled out a revised traffic fine discount scheme to encourage timely payments while taking a firm stand against dangerous driving violations. The new policy, approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, officially took effect this week.

Save 35% on Traffic Fines in Sharjah

Motorists can now avail a 35% discount on Sharjah traffic fines, including vehicle impound and release charges, if paid within 60 days of the violation. A 25% discount will apply to fines cleared within one year, though this offer excludes impound-related fees.

However, the discount is not applicable to 40 major violations, which are directly linked to fatal accidents and serious road offenses.

No Discount for High-Risk Offenses

Among the excluded violations are:

  • Overspeeding by more than 60 or 80 km/h
  • Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Causing fatalities or serious injuries
  • Running red lights (all vehicle types)
  • Reckless overtaking and dangerous swerving
  • Using mobile phones while driving
  • Not stopping after an accident
  • Blocking emergency vehicles or school buses
  • Operating noisy or dangerously loaded vehicles

“These aren’t minor infractions—they’re life-threatening behaviors,” said Colonel Abdulrahman Mohammed Khater, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department at Sharjah Police. “Excluding them from the discount sends a strong and clear message.”

The initiative is part of a joint campaign with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, which includes:

  • Upgraded pedestrian crossings
  • New smart traffic signals
  • Enhanced signage in high-risk zones

Authorities have deployed both uniformed and plainclothes patrols to ensure enforcement on roads and sidewalks.
