If the entire world were watching, Shawn Mendes and Niall Horan would still pull off surprise stage reunions. Mendes has just launched his On the Road Again Tour, the first time he has performed live since halting the Wonder Tour in 2022 due to mental illnesses. On his recent performance at the O2 arena in London, The Canadian born singer marveled the audience of the arena by bringing Horan onstage to perform a moving duet of the song, This Town.
“Everyone, please welcome Mr. Niall Horan,” Mendes announced, sending the crowd into screams and tears. The two musicians played guitars side by side and this was quite a memorable moment. Horan said, before departing, “I love you and I love this guy.” Look after him.” Mendes has also previously supported Horan, earlier this year at his London concert, where the two men performed a duet on Mendes song, Treat You Better.
The night was an added burden to Horan, who had concluded The Show: Live on Tour in October 2024, several months before the death of his former One Direction mate Liam Payne, who died at the age of 31. And Mendes, who also performed small concerts last fall, even dedicated a friendlier song to Payne, telling the audience, and crying, that being a friend is probably the most important thing in the world.
