Islamabad, Aug 19: Sheikhupura’s district administration is enforcing stringent measures on Monday to guarantee the provision of necessities at official prices. As to the DC Office, the district has stepped up its efforts to counteract profiteering and adulteration, as directed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.Price Control Magistrates regularly verify the weight of fruits, vegetables, bread, meat, and other necessities in stores and markets.
Additionally, they make sure that food stores are charging the agreed-upon prices for their items.In order to help consumers, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Mian Muhammad Jameel underlined the significance of strictly enforcing price rules. He gave all Price Control Magistrates instructions to make sure that legitimate rates for necessities are applied.
Authorities visited more than 28,000 stores in August, and they fined over 22 lakh rupees for infractions like overcharging, hoarding, and not putting up official price lists. In addition, more than eleven store owners have been detained and charged with crimes.
The district government is also working to make sure that bread is priced correctly. After more than 32,000 stores and tandoors were examined, 2,639 shopkeepers were fined more than 55 lakh rupees. 29 store owners have been arrested and 37 have been accused of overcharging for bread.
