Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Sialkot, where more than 200 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded, breaking past records. Floodwater has entered homes, and the situation has turned alarming with Nala Dek surpassing its 2014 flood record. At Kangra Bridge, the water flow has reached an extraordinary 77,742 cusecs, raising fears of a historic flood.
The continuous downpour has triggered direct flood threats from the Chenab and Ravi rivers to southern Punjab, especially Multan and Muzaffargarh. Low-lying areas near the Chenab, including Head Muhammad Wala, Qasim Bela, Paka Sandela, Langar Sarai, Pir Manjhan Sultan, Pipli, and Doaba, are at high risk of submergence in the coming hours.
According to flood updates, the Chenab River at Head Marala is witnessing 223,000 cusecs of water, while the Ravi River at Head Jassar has surged to 117,000 cusecs, both at very high flood levels.
Authorities have warned that floodwaters may rise further in the next 24 to 48 hours, with the possibility of additional rainfall worsening the situation. Residents of vulnerable areas have been urged to take urgent precautionary measures as the risk of inundation remains extremely high.
