Sialkot rainfall has broken all previous records as the city received 405 millimeters of rain in a single day, the heaviest in 49 years. The earlier record is of 339 millimeters which was set on August 6, 1976.

The heavy downpour brought the city to a standstill as roads turned into rivers, transport came to a halt and thousands of people got trapped in flooded neighborhoods. Authorities issued urgent advisories asking residents to stay indoors. Officials also warned that low-lying areas are still at risk of further flooding.

In Gujrat, water levels at Head Marala Barrage reached dangerous levels, crossing 900,000 cusecs against its maximum capacity of 1.1 million cusecs. Dozens of nearby villages are under threat and evacuation plans are being prepared.

Bhimber Nullah also entered high flood after heavy rains in Kharian and adjoining areas. Villages including Galyana, Do Do Barsala, Gujjar Kotla, Miana Chak and Panjan Kasana were placed on high alert.

Families in Sialkot low-lying areas were forced to leave their homes as water kept rising. Rescue efforts were slowed down by submerged roads, power cuts and communication failures. Rescue teams are providing food, shelter and medical aid.
