Though the film created enormous hype, Sikandar became a big flop at the box-office. In an interview given last month, its director AR Murugadoss confessed to have felt caged in the process of creating the film due to his weak hold on Hindi language.

During a new interaction, Murugadoss also touched upon the difficulty of such a work with a superstar Salman Khan: it is not easy, he stated. In talking to Valaipechu Voice, he confided, that shooting with a star has its own challenges. We would even film night scenes during the day because he typically would come on the set at night at around 8 PM.

He also elaborated on the effects of the delays on the other stake holders particularly children. When kids were used on a shot we would shoot at 2 AM, regardless of whether the scene needed them to have just left school. The filmmaker added that they would be worn out and would tend to sleep by the time.
