Islamabad, June 18, 2025: In a significant move to improve education quality across the province, the College Education Department Sindh has rolled out a new teacher transfer and appointment policy, now in effect.

As per the Sindh new teacher transfer policy, college teachers in BS-17 and above can now be posted anywhere within the province if needed, provided that budget-approved vacancies exist. This strategic flexibility aims to fill subject-specific gaps in colleges and improve the student-teacher ratio. Every institution is now required to maintain at least one qualified teacher per enrolled subject to ensure uninterrupted academic delivery.

A major highlight of the policy is the removal of domicile-based restrictions for transfers. Teachers can now be transferred outside their home districts, especially in cases where their subject expertise is not required locally but urgently needed elsewhere. However, initial hiring will continue to favor local candidates to maintain logistical convenience.

To minimize academic disruption, transfer applications will be accepted only during the summer and winter vacations starting from the 2025–26 academic session. Exceptions will be made for urgent needs with valid justification.

Transfers between male and female colleges remain rare and will only be approved when absolutely essential. The new policy is crafted to ensure balanced teacher allocation, reduce surplus in overstaffed institutions, and address shortages in underserved colleges.

This progressive reform is expected to bring much-needed efficiency and fairness to the education system across Sindh.
