The Excise and Taxation Department of Sindh held its inaugural auction of premium number plates recently. A sizable number of people attended the event, keen to obtain special and eye-catching license plates.
The “A1” number plate, which broke the previous record by selling for an incredible Rs100 million (10 crore rupees), was the highlight of the auction. Muzamal Kareem, a businessman, purchased this desired plate. Additionally, Kareem made headlines when he paid Rs45 million (4.5 crore rupees) for the exclusive license plate “7.”
The “786” number plate, which industrialist Sorosh purchased for Rs26 million (2.6 crore rupees), was another noteworthy sale. Nasir Shah, the minister of Sindh Energy, gave Sorosh the ownership certificate of this valuable plate.Provincial ministers stressed that these expensive license plates are worthwhile investments rather than just fancy registration numbers. In the future, auction winners may be able to resell these plates and turn a profit.
The sale demonstrated the rising demand for unique and distinguished license plates and was a momentous occasion for Sindh. It also demonstrated people’s readiness to shell out a lot of money to have the distinction of possessing distinctive license plates.This first auction in Sindh has raised the standard for similar events in the future and demonstrated the competitiveness and profitability of the premium number plate industry.
