Islamabad, 31 May 2025: Sindh Cancels Eid Holidays In a decisive move to ensure fair transport fares during the festive rush, the Sindh government has withdrawn Eid ul-Adha holidays for officers serving in the Provincial, Regional, and District Transport Authorities.

This action has been taken to bolster supervision of public transport services and swiftly address grievances from passengers during one of the year’s busiest travel periods.

Transport Officers Ordered to Stay on Duty

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that all relevant transport staff will remain on active duty throughout the Eid holidays.

He pointed out that the decision was made to stop transporters from exploiting travellers by demanding inflated fares.

Memon reiterated that only officially sanctioned rates should be applied, warning that any breach would lead to immediate disciplinary measures.

Sindh Cancels Eid Holidays Memon underscored that making travel affordable and accessible for citizens journeying to see their families was a top government concern.

He appealed to the public to be vigilant and to report any incidents of fare manipulation. Should on-ground officials fail to act promptly, travellers have been advised to contact the Deputy Secretary of Transport directly at 0346-2522641.

Public Encouraged to Stand Against Price Gouging

The Sindh administration has called on commuters to refuse any fare above government-approved levels and report violators without hesitation.

Federal Eid Schedule Confirmed

In contrast, the federal government has declared a nationwide four-day holiday from June 6 to June 9, 2025, following endorsement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed that Eid ul-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, after the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted earlier in the week.
