The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has revoked the provisional No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued to Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) for sale and advertisement of plots and units.

According to an official notification, the cancellation was made in compliance with Supreme Court orders in case CMA 8758/2018 dated November 23, 2023. The authority also cited BTK’s failure to submit land titles and default on installment payments of Rs. 460 billion, which were due by August 31, 2026.

The notification stated that such defaults threaten the security of the 16,896 acres of land allocated to the project, undermining the legal basis of the earlier provisional NOC.

SBCA, exercising its powers under section 4 of the Sindh Building Control Ordinance (SBCO) 1979, noted that allowing the NOC to continue would mislead the public and validate illegalities. In its 20th meeting held on September 3, 2025, the authority resolved to cancel the certificate with immediate effect.

The notice directed all parties to refrain from sale, purchase, booking, or advertisement of plots and constructed units in BTK.

However, SBCA clarified that the rights of existing allottees will remain safeguarded in line with Supreme Court directives.
