Islamabad, 28 May 2025: ‘Stipend Scheme for Schoolgirls’ in Sindh has been introduced by the provincial authorities as part of a broader effort to enhance school attendance and reduce dropout rates among female students.
This targeted financial initiative will benefit girls enrolled in select grades, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable access to education.
The Sindh Education Department stated that the program will be implemented during the academic year 2024–25 and is specifically designed for students of Class 6, Class 9, and Class 10.

Eligibility will be limited to pupils attending schools registered with an official School Education Management Information System (SEMIS) code.
Attendance-Based Eligibility Criteria
As outlined in the official notification, the ‘Stipend Scheme for Schoolgirls’ mandates that eligible students must maintain at least 60% attendance during the five-month period from August to December.
The condition aims to promote consistent school attendance while discouraging irregularity, which has long hampered academic achievement in many parts of the province.
Authorities believe that linking stipends to classroom presence will encourage families to prioritize regular schooling for their daughters, especially in areas where socio-economic pressures often hinder female education.
Public Response and Future Outlook
Community feedback on the ‘Stipend Scheme for Schoolgirls’ has so far been largely positive. Parents, educators, and social advocates have welcomed the scheme as a timely intervention that could help bridge the gender gap in education.
Many parents see the financial support as a helpful incentive that relieves some of the economic burden of schooling.

Officials added that the program will be continuously monitored to ensure transparency and impact. Additional measures to expand the scheme to more grades or regions could be considered depending on the program’s outcomes.
By tying monetary assistance to attendance, the Sindh government hopes to not only support girls’ education but also instill habits of discipline and regular learning setting the foundation for long-term academic and social empowerment.
