Karachi, March 10: As the Sindh government is set to acquire over the operational control of federal-funded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Green Line on Monday (today March 10), the provincial government has set aside Rs01 billion appropriation to preserve the passage for another four months to assist thousands of commuters.
Compared to the Sindh government’s People’s Bus Service (PBS) which has as of late settled Rs80 as its least passage fare, the highest passage fare of the Green Line is Rs55 per individual after an endowment given by the central government.
The Rs1 billion appropriation being advertised by the Sindh government will offer assistance keep up the commuter’s fee at the current level till June 2025.
However, a query remains to be addressed for the maintainability of current level of passenger fee after the month of June.
Public Trasport Service in Sindh
The Sindh government is as of now advertising appropriations on its lead PBS extend over Sindh which was propelled in June 2022.

It would be a challenge for the common local government to keep both BRTs and People Bus Service operational at same fares, whereas the fare could go up after June.
Last month, the Sindh Mass Travel Authority had reported that it would take management of BRT Green and Orange Lines from Macrh 10, 2025.
Last week, Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah had chaired a session of the sub-committee of the Sindh cabinet on funds, which endorsed the discharge of Rs200 million funds to ceaseless operations of the Green Line service in Karachi.
The official sources said that Rs200m was really apportioned for up keep of the Green Line projects framework till the conclusion of current fiscal year, June.
