Islamabad, Mar 24, 2025: In a proactive move to curb overcharging during Eidul Fitr, the Sindh government has revoked holiday leave for transport officials.
The decision aims to ensure fair fares for passengers amid the festive travel rush.
Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that officials from the Transport and Mass Transit Department will remain on duty throughout Eid to oversee transport operations.
While the provincial government had previously declared March 31 to April 2 as Eid holidays, transport authorities will continue working to regulate fares and assist travelers.
Memon urged the public to report any instances of fare inflation, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against violators.
He warned transporters against exploiting passengers and assured that the government will enforce regulations to maintain fair pricing.
Overcharging by transporters has been a recurring issue during major festivals, often causing distress for travelers.
