Islamabad, Jan 11: The Sindh Govt Launches Electric Taxi Scheme for Youth Employment while championing environmental sustainability by launching an electric vehicle (EV) initiative.
This innovative program will provide EV taxis to unemployed youth on accessible instalment plans, offering them a steady income source while promoting eco-friendly transportation.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the details of the program, emphasizing its twin objectives: job creation and environmental conservation.
By empowering the youth with opportunities for self-employment, the scheme also supports Sindh’s vision for greener transportation infrastructure.
To ensure the success of the project, Minister Memon directed the Secretary of Transport to collaborate with banks and financial institutions. The focus is on developing flexible financial models to make repayment manageable for the recipients, enabling them to eventually own the vehicles.
During a recent briefing with representatives of a Karachi-based EV taxi manufacturing company, officials highlighted the environmental advantages of electric vehicles. Minister Memon reiterated that the program aligns with the government’s mission to reduce Sindh’s carbon footprint and improve air quality.
“The introduction of EV taxis is a significant step towards sustainable employment and environmental stewardship,” stated Memon. “This initiative not only supports our youth but also advances Sindh’s commitment to building a cleaner and healthier environment.”
The program will roll out in the coming months, introducing EV taxis as an affordable income source for jobless youth. This initiative will boost the economy and promote sustainability by integrating green technology into the province’s transport system.
By merging social empowerment with eco-conscious policies, the Sindh government is setting a precedent for other provinces to follow. This program promises to transform lives and contribute to a brighter, greener future for the region.
