Islamabad, June 3, 2025: The Sindh government has announced a historic housing initiative to provide 2.1 million free homes to families affected by the devastating 2022 floods, along with the distribution of pink electric scooters for women to promote green mobility and female empowerment.
Key Highlights of Sindh’s New Development Program
- 2.1 Million Free Homes:
- Affected families from the 2022 floods will receive newly built houses.
- Ownership will be registered in women’s names to promote gender equality.
- This is Pakistan’s largest post-disaster housing project to date.
- Pink EV Scooters for Women:
- Women will receive free electric scooters every year under a new scheme.
- The goal is to ensure safe, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation.
- Applications for the first phase have already crossed 8,000 entries.
- Training and Empowerment:
- Free training centres will open in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas.

- Electric Scooter Lottery System:
- In the first phase, 1,000 pink scooters will be distributed through a lucky draw next month.
