Islamabad, Mar 21, 2025: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed officials to introduce a Karachi Citizen Issue Reporting Portal to address civic concerns while tightening regulations on road cutting approvals.
This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, public services, and city management, especially ahead of Eid.
During a high-level meeting at the CM House, attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and senior officials, key urban challenges were discussed, including road maintenance, drainage, illegal encroachments, sanitation, and traffic control.
Stricter Regulations on Road Cutting
CM Shah raised concerns over frequent road excavation in three districts, which has led to significant disruptions for residents.
Officials revealed that local town administrations were granting approvals independently, leading to uncoordinated road cutting.
In response, the CM centralized approval authority, requiring that all roadwork be sanctioned solely by the Karachi mayor and commissioner.

“No town officer or KMC official should approve road cutting without oversight,” he instructed, ordering the Local Government Department to formalize this directive through an executive order.
New “Karachi Issues Portal” for Citizen Complaints
To streamline civic issue reporting, CM Shah announced the launch of a digital portal where residents can lodge complaints regarding drainage, encroachments, and sanitation.
Assistant and deputy commissioners will be responsible for monitoring and resolving these issues.
“Field inspections must be conducted to ensure timely solutions for drainage, cleanliness, and illegal parking problems,” he emphasized.
Eid Preparations & City Beautification
As Eid approaches, CM Shah instructed authorities to boost security, improve street lighting, and ensure smoother traffic flow in commercial areas.
He directed Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah to increase police patrols and implement measures to facilitate shoppers.
Additionally, the mayor has been assigned to initiate a citywide beautification campaign, focusing on four major shopping districts.
“By next year, we will expand this effort to more markets and public spaces,” the CM assured.
Encroachment Removal & Water Supply Projects
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Lyari water pipeline project, with orders for its speedy completion.
Furthermore, post-Eid anti-encroachment drives will target illegal structures obstructing public areas, ensuring better accessibility for citizens.
“We must keep public spaces open and free from unauthorized occupation,” CM Shah stressed.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to making Karachi cleaner, more organized, and citizen-friendly.
