Islamabad, Mar 20, 2025: India’s fast bowler, Mohammed Siraj, has expressed strong support for the BCCI’s decision to lift the ban on saliva usage ahead of IPL 2025.
The star Indian pacer believes the move will benefit fast bowlers, especially in conditions where swing is difficult to achieve.
Siraj, who will represent Gujarat Titans this season, explained that saliva helps maintain the ball’s shine, enhancing the chances of reverse swing.
The right-arm pacer pointed out that simply rubbing the ball on a shirt does not produce the same effect.
Ready for New Challenges with Gujarat Titans
After parting ways with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Siraj admitted that leaving the team was an emotional moment, especially because of Virat Kohli’s support.
However, he is excited to work under his new captain, Shubman Gill, whom he described as a ‘bowler’s captain who encourages freedom in decision-making.
With top-tier bowlers like Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan, and Ishant Sharma in the squad, Siraj expects healthy competition and valuable team contributions.
He acknowledged the responsibility of replacing Mohammed Shami but remains confident in his ability to take early wickets for the team.
Focus on Performance, Not Selection
Having missed several recent international matches, Siraj emphasized that team selection is beyond his control. Instead, he has used the break to refine his bowling skills, working on slower deliveries and yorkers.
Under the guidance of coach Ashish Nehra, Siraj hopes to develop his bowling further and contribute significantly to Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2025 campaign.
