Smog in Punjab has worsened, covering major cities in a thick layer of pollution.

The provincial capital, Lahore, recorded hazardous air levels with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 351. In comparison, Gujranwala emerged as the most polluted city in Pakistan with an alarming AQI of 521. Faisalabad and Multan also faced severe air pollution, recording AQI levels of 275 and 273 respectively.

According to health experts, citizens have been advised to wear masks and limit outdoor activities to avoid respiratory problems.

Meanwhile, the provincial authorities have launched a crackdown on individuals and industries responsible for spreading pollution. As part of the ongoing operation, 22 cases have been registered and several violators have been taken into custody.
