Islamabad, 11 June 2025: Housing Societies Sealed Authorities in Rawalpindi have intensified efforts to enforce municipal regulations, leading to the closure of multiple unauthorized sites, including a soft drink storage facility and two under-construction residential projects.
In a recent move by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), enforcement teams sealed a beverage distribution warehouse situated along Defence Road, as well as the on-site offices of Bostan Housing Scheme and Eastridge Housing Scheme on Lahore High Court Road.
The operation followed continued violations of zoning and construction regulations, which, according to officials, persisted despite prior warnings.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza stated that the warehouse was functioning without formal authorization, and both housing projects had failed to furnish essential legal documents specifically, the Transfer Deed and Mortgage Deed.
Repeated notices had reportedly been issued to the developers, yet no corrective action was taken. The lack of compliance ultimately triggered enforcement proceedings.
“We expect all commercial operations and real estate developments to follow the due legal process,” Murtaza remarked, emphasizing the importance of proper approvals before initiating business or construction activity. She added that the RDA would continue monitoring such cases to uphold urban planning standards.

Housing Societies Sealed also serves as a public reminder, with the authority urging citizens to report irregular developments and support efforts to eliminate unauthorized construction. Ensuring adherence to land use laws, Murtaza noted, is vital to keeping Rawalpindi’s neighborhoods safe, orderly, and accessible.
The Housing Societies Sealed operation forms part of a broader campaign by local authorities to clamp down on illegal expansions and safeguard public infrastructure from encroachment and misuse.
