Islamabad, June 18, 2025: During the initial four months of the ongoing year, solar energy plants contributed an average of 25.3 percent to Pakistan’s utility-based electricity generation.

As per data from Ember, cited by Reuters, solar energy has advanced from being Pakistan’s fifth-largest power source in 2023 to the leading source in 2025.

The analysis states that thus far in 2025, solar power has made up 25 percent of Pakistan’s grid-supplied electricity, positioning the country among fewer than 20 nations worldwide that have derived a quarter or more of their monthly electricity from solar installations.

Solar power accounts for roughly 8 percent globally, approximately 11 percent in China, 8 percent in the United States, and 7 percent in European nations.
